Police: 2 linked to Dearborn, Dearborn Heights thefts

Dearborn — Police have announced the arrests and arraignments of a man and woman suspected of a string burglaries in Dearborn and neighboring Dearborn Heights.

According to police, Derrick Fletcher and Alicia Choucair were arrested after they broke into a home at about 1 p.m. July 14 in the 5000 block of Ternes.

Police responded to the neighborhood after receiving reports of a man attempting to enter homes. Once on the scene, police observed Fletcher break into the one home and then attempt to enter another.

After Fletcher and Choucair were arrested, police determined the suspects had committed actually committed two home invasions and one attempted invasion.

Stolen property recovered in the suspects’ vehicle allegedly linked the pair to several crimes in Dearborn Heights. Both police departments are conducting a joint investigation into the crimes.

Fletcher and Choucair have been arraigned before Magistrate Al Hindman on charges of first-degree home invasion and two counts second-degree home invasion.

Bond was set at $20,000/10 percent and a GPS tether for Fletcher and $20,000/10 percent for Choucair. A probable cause hearing for the suspects will be held on Aug. 7.
