Macomb Twp. teacher charged with child porn

Federal authorities have charged a Macomb Township man with distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.

A detention hearing was held Friday for Cory Grant Leonard, 36, said Gina Balaya, a public information officer with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit.

According to a criminal complaint filed this week in U.S. District Court, Leonard was tracked through an online undercover operation on child porn and sex abuse FBI agents conducted in December 2014.

A search warrant was executed at the home of a man who “was sexually abusing his daughter and producing child pornographic images of her,” the complaint stated.

The man had transmitted images of the 2-year-old to 25 KIK or chat users; one using the handle “Corman Aloof” and claiming to be 16 years old “asked for images and videos of ‘young girls,’ ” according to the court filing.

“Throughout the KIK Messenger conversations, Aloof both sent child pornography to, and received child pornography from,” the father, the complaint stated.

Authorities linked the handle and an e-mail address to Leonard, who has worked at a daycare facility in Shelby Township and taught computer and technology classes at Anderson Middle School in Berkley, according to the criminal complaint.

Leonard has been fired from both jobs and is being held without bond, according to authorities.
