State Police conduct traffic sweep in Farmington Hills

Farmington Hills — A distracted driving traffic enforcement sweep by the Michigan State Police got the attention of a number of drivers on Thursday.

Troopers from the Second District Motor Unit conducted their operation on Interstate 696, near I-275, and made 89 traffic stops of motorists who weren’t paying attention while they were driving.

The operation resulted in 18 citations, 14 tickets for speeding, 19 write ups for seat belt violations, 15 miscellaneous violations, three arrests and 48 verbal warnings.
