Mice, bedbugs in Pontiac apartments say residents

Associated Press

Pontiac — People in a low-income building in Pontiac are complaining about living with mice, bedbugs and black mold.

Carriage Circle apartments residents say the conditions there are deplorable.

They gave WDIV-TV photos of dead mice stuck to glue traps. Some showed what they say are bite marks on their skin from bedbugs. Video also shows mold and roaches.

Resident Jeanne Simpson says she and others feel like they’ve “been forgotten.”

The television station says it is awaiting a response from the Pontiac Housing Commission which runs the building. The commission administers federal and state funded rent programs for low-income families, the elderly and disabled.

The Associated Press left a phone message and email Sunday seeking comment from the commission.
