Lansing State Journal plans to move offices in January

Lansing — The Lansing State Journal plans to move its offices to the newly renovated Knapp’s Centre in January.

The newspaper reports it signed a 10-year lease to operate out of the third floor of the downtown building. The Eyde Company, which owns Knapp’s Centre, bought the current building used by the newspaper this month.

Brian Priester, the newspaper’s president and publisher, says it’s “a logical step as we transition into a digital first organization.”

The Lansing State Journal has been headquartered at its current location since 1951. The building is 87,000 square feet and once included printing presses. Eyde Company is exploring plans to redevelop it into a mixed-use building.

The newspaper owned by McLean, Virginia-based Gannett Co. will occupy roughly 20,000 square feet at the Knapp’s Centre.
