Ann Arbor — Michigan lost badly to Ohio State on Saturday, but that didn’t deter four-star defensive tackle Jordan Elliott from Houston from committing.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Elliott announced his decision via Twitter not long after the Wolverines’ 42-13 loss to the Buckeyes, their fourth straight and 13th in the last 15. He chose Michigan over Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Oklahoma and USC, among others, according to Rivals and Scout.

He is the 22nd commitment to Michigan’s upcoming freshman class.

His tweet: “After extensive research and after sitting down with my family to look at all possible scenarios, I have made my final decision to further my education and football career at the University of Michigan!!”

Elliott also revealed on Twitter that he had felt this way for a while.

OSU moves on

After a crushing defeat to Michigan State a week earlier, the Buckeyes recovered to wallop Michigan.

“I’ve been very fortunate to be around some big-time games, and from the bottom of my heart, I told the players that might be the best one I’ve ever seen,” OSU coach Urban Meyer told reporters after the game, according to Cleveland.com. “To come back from the kick in the stomach we took a week ago. it was an awful week of practice, awful as far as (how) everybody felt.

“To come out and navigate a storm against an excellent team we have a lot of respect for, very good personnel, especially that defense, to come out and do that against them, this is one of the best group of kids I’ve ever been around.”

Extra points

Quarterback Jake Rudock threw for 263 yards against OSU, his fourth straight game of 250 yards or more. He is the sixth Wolverine to throw for 250 yards or more in four games in a season, and he’s the first to achieve the feat in consecutive games.

… Rudock’s 2,739 passing yards moves him to fifth among Michigan’s all-time single-season leaders. He has passed, among others, U-M coach Jim Harbaugh, who threw for 2,729 yards in 1986. He needs four yards to reach fourth, currently held by Chad Henne (2,743 in 2004).

… Receiver Jehu Chesson had the only touchdown reception of the game for the Wolverines, and he has eight touchdown catches the last five games and 11 for the season.

… Cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who has a record 21 pass breakups this season, earned his first career sack, a 2-yard loss in the first quarter.
