Michigan’s Partridge named nation’s top recruiter

Michigan linebackers / special teams coach Chris Partridge has been named National Recruiter of the Year by Scout.com.

Partridge is the former head coach at Paramus (N.J.) Catholic and helped deliver the nation’s No. 1 recruit, defensive tackle Rashan Gary, to the Wolverines.

Partridge was Gary’s coach at Paramus before joining Michigan’s recruiting staff ahead of the 2015 season. He was promoted to assistant coach after the season.

Gary is one of six players from New Jersey in Michigan’s 2016 recruiting class. The others are running back Kareem Walker, receivers Ahmir Mitchell and Brad Hawkins, defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour and defensive end Ron Johnson Jr.

Partridge was head coach at Paramus from 2010-14.

Report: Harbaugh adds Prattville assistant to staff

Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck was named Recruiter of the Year in the Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan’s Herb Haygood earned honorable mention. Haygood is a former Michigan State receiver.

The Big Ten’s top recruiter was Ohio State’s Zach Smith. Michigan’s Greg Mattison, MSU’s Ron Burton and Iowa’s Phil Parker were named honorable mention. Parker was a defensive back for Michigan State.
