Quin’s wish: A Super Bowl with the Lions

San Francisco — Glover Quin, as well as a few Lions teammates, were in the Bay Area this week participating in some Super Bowl activities, but the safety would rather be in San Francisco under different circumstances.

“Obviously, being out here enjoying the festivities is fun, but you definitely would love to be playing in the game and be the reason all these people are out here,” Quin said Saturday before the NFL Honors ceremony.

A year ago, the Lions looked to be a team on the rise after finishing 11-5 before a first-round playoff loss, but in 2015, they took a step back, going 7-9 after a forgettable 1-7 start.

The Lions, of course, have never played in a Super Bowl, and Quin knows what they have to do to be in contention next season.

“Play a lot better,” Quin said. “(Be) more consistent, just win the games that we’re supposed to win and make the plays that we’re supposed to make. I think that’s more than enough.”

And, like many of his teammates, Quin said he hopes wide receiver Calvin Johnson returns for a 10th season in 2016, but if Johnson retires, Quin said he’s had a “heck of a career.”
