Report: Ex-Tiger Young accused of threatening valet

Former Tigers outfielder Delmon Young is in trouble again.

According to WPLG in Miami, Young was arrested Sunday night after police said he threatened to kill a valet attendant.

The TV station cited a police report in which Young is accused of grabbing the valet by his neck after he refused to let Young into an elevator to a club.

The attendant, according to the report, told Young the club was closed. Young responded, according to the police report: “Stupid Cuban. Open the (expletive) door. I’m here. Now what?”

WPLG reported that Young walked away, but later returned, demanding entry into the club. When he was told again that the club was closed, Young said, according to the police report: “I’m gonna (expletive) kill you, you Latin piece of (expletive).”

WPLG reported that Young then “placed his hands on the attendant’s neck, but the attendant was able to break free and ran for help," the report said.

He was arrested and charged with battery. Jail records show he was released Monday morning on $1,500 bail.

Young’s attorney declined to comment on Monday.

Young has 10 seasons in the majors, including 2011 and 2012 in Detroit. In 2012, he was arrested outside a club in Manhattan after allegedly shoving man to the ground and making anti-Semetic remarks. He later pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment.

Young has played the last two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles.
