Tigers pack up to hit road for Lakeland

Baseball is just around the corner.

How close? The Tigers packed up their gear Tuesday at Comerica Park, ready to haul it to Lakeland, Florida, for the start of spring training.

Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 18, while the rest of the team reports Feb. 22. The first full workout is Feb. 23

The Tigers open spring training with an exhibition against Florida Southern College on Feb. 29, before hosting the Pirates on March 1. The Tigers open their regular season April 5 at the Miami Marlins, with opening day at Comerica Park scheduled for April 8 against the New York Yankees.
