A Gibraltar woman was arraigned Wednesday in connection with the drug intoxication death of her nephew, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Belinda Guzzi-Ford, 52, of Gibraltar allegedly gave her nephew Kevin Aaron Bryant, 32, of Rockwood methadone and alprazolam (Xanax) on Dec. 10, the prosecutor said.

The next morning, Bryant’s wife found him unresponsive in their home in the 23200 block of Huron River and called the Rockwood Fire Department. Flat Rock Fire Department paramedics also responded; they could not revive Bryant, according to the prosecutor.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Bryant’s cause of death as methadone and alprazolam intoxication.

Guzzi-Ford was charged with delivery of methadone causing death, an alternative charge of delivery of methadone as well as a charge of delivery of a schedule 4 substance added by rule (alprazolam).

Judge Jennifer Coleman Hesson of the 33rd District Court in Woodhaven set bond at $225,000. A probable-cause conference is set for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 18. A preliminary examination is set for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
