Spartans send seven to NFL combine
Michigan State’s success on the football field the past few years is starting to directly translate into players heading to the NFL.
After this past season’s senior class finished their careers as the winningest class in Spartans history, seven Michigan State players will take part in the NFL draft combine beginning Feb. 24 in Indianapolis. It matches the most players Michigan State has sent to the combine.
Heading to Lucas Oil Stadium for the workouts will be quarterback Connor Cook, center Jack Allen, wide receiver Aaron Burbridge, defensive tackle Joel Heath and defensive ends Shilique Calhoun and Lawrence Thomas. All six are seniors, while junior offensive tackle Jack Conklin rounds out the group.
The last time the Spartans sent seven players to the combine was in 2000. That group was highlighted by wide receiver Plaxico Burress and linebacker Julian Peterson.
Two Michigan players have been invited to the combine -- center Graham Glasgow and defensive lineman Willie Henry.
