Jerry Franklin

The Lions signed journeyman linebacker Jerry Franklin on Thursday.

Franklin has spent time with six different teams since going undrafted out of Arkansas in 2012. He last appeared in a game in 2014, when he played seven games with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He played 10 games for the Bears in 2013 and three more with Chicago in 2012 and also joined the roster or practice squad with the Saints, Cowboys, Panthers and Broncos.

Franklin is the second player new general manager Bob Quinn has signed for the Lions. He added receiver Austin Willis a few weeks ago.

In addition to scouring the free agents, Quinn will have to make some decisions on whether to keep or release some Lions veterans with questionable contracts, like linebacker Stephen Tulloch, within the next few weeks.
