Thursday’s roundup: MSU women upset; UM prevails
East Lansing — Penn State’s Teniya Page scored 20 and had a tiebreaking basket with a minute remaining to beat No. 17 Michigan State, 65-61, on Thursday.
Page gave the Nittany Lions (9-15, 4-9 Big Ten) a 62-61 lead and added another basket with 20 seconds remaining. A free throw by Lindsey Spann closed out the scoring.
Penn State snapped a four-game losing streak in claiming just its eighth victory over Michigan State in the last 11 meetings. The Spartans won, 71-55, at Penn State on Jan. 7.
Brianna Banks added 16 points and Candice Agee 10 for Penn State.
Michigan State’s Aerial Powers had 18 points and 14 rebounds for her eighth double-double this season and 42nd of her career before fouling out with 43 seconds left.
Tori Jankoska added 14 points for Michigan State (18-6, 9-4), which had 20 turnovers that led to 27 Penn State points.

Illinois-Chicago 65, (at) Detroit 51: Rosanna Reynolds led the Titans with 18 points and nine rebounds (11-12, 7-5 Horizon League).
(At) Lake Erie 58, Wayne State 40: Brittany Streetman had 12 points for Wayne State (10-14, 5-13 GLIAC).
(At) Oakland 87, Valparaiso 77: Olivia Nash led Oakland (13-10, 5-7 Horizon) with 25 points, and Taylor Jones had 20.
Big Ten men
(At) Indiana 85, No. 4 Iowa 78: Yogi Ferrell led five Hoosiers in double figures with 14 points. Robert Johnson and Troy Williams each scored 13, and Thomas Bryant and Max Bielfeldt had 10 for Indiana (20-5, 10-2 Big Ten). Jarrod Uthoff scored 24, Mike Gesell 17 and Adam Woodbury had 13 points and 15 rebounds for Iowa (19-5, 10-2 Big Ten), whose bench went a combined 0-for-4 shooting and was held scoreless.

(At) Cal 83, No. 11 Oregon 63: Jabari Bird had 24 points, Jaylen Brown 16, Ivan Rabb 13 and Tyrone Wallace 10 for Cal (16-8, 6-5 Pac-12). Dillon Brooks scored 17 and Chris Boucher 11 for Oregon (20-5, 9-3).
State men
Green Bay 86, (at) Detroit 85: Sophomore Paris Bass recorded a double-double and was one of four Titans in double figures, but that was not enough. Bass had 24 points and 13 rebounds for Detroit (12-12, 6-7 Horizon). Green Bay is 15-10, 7-5.
Milwaukee 93, (at) Oakland 85: Oakland’s Kay Felder dished out 12 assists to set a league record 703 career assists, passing the 699 set by Xavier’s Ralph Lee (1982-86). Felder and Jalen Hayes finished with 22 points to lead Oakland (17-9, 9-4 Horizon). Matt Tiby had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee.
Wayne State 63, (at) Lake Erie 60: Ronald Booth had 19 points, Michael Lewis 16 and Marcus Moore 11 for Wayne State (7-14, 7-11 GLIAC).
