Michigan State landed its latest commitment for the 2017 class on Tuesday night when linebacker Darien Clemons announced on Twitter he was becoming a Spartan.

The three-star prospect from Piqua, Ohio, visited Michigan State over the weekend during the annual spring game.

“I’m beyond excited to announce that I am committed to Michigan State University,” Clemons posted. “Thank you to all the coaches that have extended me an offer and a thank you to all my coaches that have put me in the best position to do great things on/off the field. Also a very special thank you to my parents for all the love/support and being patient through the process with me I wouldn’t be here with them! #GoGreen #SpartyDawg #V4MSU”

The 6-foot-1, 214-pound Clemons is the seventh member of Michigan State’s 2017 class and also had offers from Rutgers and Cincinnati.

“I feel like what’s better than that?” Clemons told 247sports.com. “What offer is better than Michigan State? To play on a defense that plays so aggressively. I like how they play defense and I like Coach (Mark) Dantonio as a coach and as a guy.”
