Two college scouts let go by Lions

The Lions dismissed two more of their college scouts, something many people with the team expected to happen after the draft.

General manager Bob Quinn let go regional scouts Chad Henry and Darren Anderson sometime between the conclusion of the draft Saturday and Monday afternoon. It’s unclear if the two scouts’ contracts expired or if they were fired.

The Lions have not announced the dismissals, but both Anderson and Henry have had their names removed from the team website.

Henry joined the Lions as an intern in 1997 and had been with the team full-time since 1998. He scouted the East Coast for the team.

Anderson started with the Lions in 2012. He was a scout in the Midwest.

Most contracts for scouts expire in May, which is why there was an expectation that Quinn would make more changes to the personnel department after the draft. Although he fired a few members of the personnel staff, Quinn retained most people involved in the college process because they had already finished most of the work for the 2016 draft before he arrived.

Quinn said Saturday he was still evaluating his scouts, so there’s a chance more changes could be coming.
