The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office says a warrant is being reviewed for Keith Appling, but authorities wouldn’t confirm if it was for the former Michigan State basketball star.

Maria Miller, the spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office said Monday, the warrant is for a 24-year-old man. The Michigan State standout was born Feb. 13, 1992, in Detroit.

Miller did not say what charge or charges are being sought or whether it is for the former college basketball star.

A person answering the phone at the Dearborn jail told The News there is a person by the name of Keith Appling being held with no bond.

WXYZ (Channel 7) is reporting Appling was arrested Saturday night in the Dearborn strip bar the Pantheion Club with a weapon. WXYZ said it was a loaded, large assault rifle similar to an AK-47.

A man answering the phone at the club where the alleged incident took place would not comment to The News on the reported incident saying he too had heard about it but could not talk about it.

A spokeswoman in the Dearborn Police Chief’s Office told The News that if they have something to say about an arrest it would be released Tuesday morning. She also would not confirm Appling’s age or why he was arrested.

Appling’s agent, Ronald Shade, said Monday afternoon he had not heard from Appling and was unaware of charges.

“The last time I heard he was traveling from L.A. with his daughter back to Detroit to start working out,” Shade said. “So that’s all I know at this point. I haven’t heard anything different than that.”

Appling, who spent most of last season with the Erie BayHawks, played five games for the Orlando Magic. Erie, of the NBA development league, is affiliated with Orlando.

He played at Michigan State from 2010-14. He is tied for third at MSU for team starts with 123. In his final season, he played in 35 games, starting 32 of them. He averaged 11.2 points per game, 4.5 assists and 3 rebounds.
