Lions cut C Cave and TE Pierce, sign TE Wick

Like many teams, the Lions cut a couple players after restocking their roster in the draft.

The team waived center Braxston Cave and tight end Casey Pierce on Tuesday. Both players spent the majority of 2015 on the Lions' practice squad, with Cave receiving a promotion the final week. Pierce went undrafted out of Kent State last year while Cave went undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2013.

The Lions drafted former Michigan center Graham Glasgow in the third round, and he and Travis Swanson should be the top two options there this season.

At tight end, the Lions signed undrafted rookie Cole Wick from Incarnate Word and gave him a $10,000 signing bonus. Eric Ebron is the top option, but Wick will compete with Brandon Pettigrew, Tim Wright, Matthew Mulligan and Jordan Thompson for playing time.
