57-year-old in Inkster shot, drives self to hospital

Michigan State Police are looking for tips after a 57-year-old man was shot in the arm Tuesday afternoon while working on a home in Inkster.

Officials from Garden City Hospital notified police at about 5:30 p.m. that they were treating a shooting victim. The victim, a 57-year-old man, had been shot in the arm while doing work on a home in the 3000 block of Irene, which is south of Michigan Avenue and east of Middlebelt.

The man, after being shot, drove himself to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, police said.

Since 2011, state police have investigated all non-fatal shootings and homicides in Inkster.

The shooting victim was unable to give investigators information that might identify the suspect or suspects in the shooting. Michigan State Police are asking members of the public who may know more to contact them at 855-MICHTIP, or call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 800-SPEAK-UP.
