Lions general manager Bob Quinn has hired another former Patriots scout.

Jay Muraco, who was in New England with Quinn from 2000-08, will be an area scout for the Lions. Although the team hasn’t said where he will scout, most of his experience is with the East Coast, an area formerly covered by Chad Henry, who was dismissed this week.

Muraco followed former Patriots executive Scott Pioli to Kansas City in 2009. He’s also had stints with Chicago, Philadelphia and Cleveland and started his scouting career in 1992 as an intern in San Diego.

Muraco is the third scout the Lions have hired since Quinn took over as GM in January, adding Mark Olson and Ron Miles as well.

Quinn acknowledged after the draft concluded Saturday that changes could be coming to the personnel department, and the team has already has fired two scouts — Henry and Darren Anderson — and hired one.
