Two Macomb Township men were arraigned Wednesday on home invasion and other charges a day after they allegedly tried to break into a home in the township.

Kyle Nicholas Campbell

Kyle Nicholas Campbell, 17, and Eris Lumani, 18, appeared by video in the 41A District Court of Shelby Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s office.

Both were charged with third degree home invasion and controlled substance- possession of designer drugs. Campbell also received additional charges of possession of burglar’s tools, controlled substance- possession of marijuana and driving while license suspended.

According to officials, at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday deputies were alerted to a suspicious situation on Valerie Drive in the 21 Mileand Hayes area.

Eris Lumani

A witness called the sheriff’s dispatch center to report that he saw a person wearing a hooded sweatshirt walking around a neighbor’s house and “banging on a screen door.” The man told dispatch he believed the man was trying to break into the house, authorities said.

The suspect then got into a Nissan with another person and they drove away.

Deputies stopped the Nissan at Tilch Road and Goldridge and learned that the driver had a suspended license. A search of the vehicle revealed tools, gloves and a ski mask, authorities said. Deputies also found prescription drugs and a small amount of marijuana.

Campbell and Lumani were arrested and the Nissan was impounded.

Personal bonds were set at $10,000. Both are set to return to court June 6.
