Sterling Heights— Road rage between two drivers on 15 Mile Road Friday morning led to one of them crashing head-on with a school bus that had students aboard, authorities say.

The driver who hit the bus was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, Lt. James Belmonte said. He was not aware of injuries to anyone on the bus.

News reports say the school bus was from Warren Consolidated Schools.

The collision happened at the corner of 15 Mile and Dequindre. The drivers had a dispute that escalated when someone exited one vehicle and ripped the windshield wiper off the other vehicle, Belmonte said.

The road rage continued eastbound down 15 Mile and one driver lost control of their vehicle, spun out across the center line and hit the oncoming school bus, Belmonte said.

No further details were immediately available.
