Branch Co. rider on horseback injured during parade
Quincy — Authorities say a rider on horseback was severely injured after being thrown from his horse while on patrol during a Memorial Day parade in southern Michigan.
The Branch County sheriff’s department says in a Facebook posting that the rider was a member of the department’s posse program who was on parade detail Monday in Quincy.
Undersheriff Keith Eichler confirmed the posting and tells The Associated Press that a news release with updated information is expected to be distributed on Tuesday.
WOOD-TV reports that the horse appeared to have been frightened, throwing the rider into the air.
