Now the Pistons might be showing their hand.

Less than a week ahead of the NBA draft, the Pistons traded reserve point guard Spencer Dinwiddie to the Chicago Bulls for power forward Cameron Bairstow on Friday.

The move leaves the Pistons with starting Reggie Jackson as the only point guard on the roster, assuming they don’t bring back veteran Steve Blake, who will be a free agent.

Bairstow, 25, is 6-foot-9, 250 pounds and was the Bulls’ second-round pick (49th overall) in the 2014 draft. He played with the Bulls both years but has played sparingly, averaging 1.2 points and 1.0 rebounds in 36 total games.

Dinwiddie, 23, was the Pistons’ second-round pick in 2014, 11 spots ahead of Bairstow. He was limited by a foot injury this season and played in just 12 games, posting 4.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He was in 34 games last season and averaged 4.3 points and 3.1 assists.

Adding Barstow gives the Pistons a potential back-to-the-basket big man, which they lacked last season, outside of centers Andre Drummond and Aron Baynes.

In their pre-draft workouts, the Pistons primarily have had point guards and centers, which could signal the direction they could go with the No. 18 and No. 49 picks in the June 23 draft.
