While Michigan State had two players selected on Thursday in the NBA draft, that’s not the end to former Spartans heading to the next level.

Matt Costello

Forward Matt Costello will sign with the Atlanta Hawks and guard Bryn Forbes is expected to sign in the next day or two, coach Tom Izzo said on Friday.

“Matt Costello signed a deal with Atlanta and will get paid to get to camp,” Izzo said. “Bryn Forbes is down to two teams and we should know later today. In a lot of ways it’s a great day.”

The news on Costello and Forbes comes the day after guard Denzel Valentine was selected No. 14 overall by Chicago and freshman forward Deyonta Davis dropped out of the first round, going No. 31 overall to Boston with the first pick of the second round. His rights were then traded to Memphis.

The 6-foot-9 Costello averaged 10.7 points and 8.2 rebounds as a senior and finished with 146 blocks, the most in Michigan State history.
