Glen Arbor Township — Authorities say divers have found the body of an 81-year-old Warren man who was missing after jumping from a boat in northern Michigan to go for a swim.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle and MLive.com report the body of Edward James Koenigbauer of Warren was found on Sunday. The Leelanau County sheriff’s department says that he was reported missing last Tuesday afternoon on Big Glen Lake.

The sheriff’s department says a police dog helped divers pinpoint a search area.

Authorities say the man was boating with a 75-year-old man and soon began to struggle after jumping into the water. The sheriff’s department says the 75-year-old tried to help him and got into the water himself but had to be rescued by another group of boaters.
