Another Kmart store is closing in Michigan. This time, it’s in Clinton Township.

Sears Holdings Corp. announced to employees Thursday the store at 34800 Groesbeck Highway is closing in mid-October, Howard Riefs, director of corporate communication for Sears Holdings, said in an email. A liquidation sale begins July 28.

“Store closures are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base and accelerate the transformation of our business model,” Riefs said.

The number of employees at the Clinton Township Kmart was not available, but the mostly part-time/hourly workers will receive severance packages and be eligible to apply for other positions at Sears or Kmart, Riefs said.

This year, Kmart has closed or will close stores in Houghton Lake, Taylor, Farmington Hills, Sterling Heights and Ironwood.
