Pistons get six national TV games for 2016-17

The Pistons haven’t been featured on national television much in recent seasons, but that will change this coming season, according to the schedule released by the NBA on Thursday.

The Pistons get six national TV dates, three apiece on TNT and ESPN. The TNT national games are at Golden State on Jan. 12, at Boston Jan. 30 and against Washington April 10. The ESPN dates are Jan. 13 at Utah, Jan. 18 against Atlanta and March 8 at Indiana.

They also will be featured four times on NBA TV — at Denver on Nov. 12, at Boston on Nov. 30, at Toronto on Feb. 12 and at Cleveland on March 14.

The Pistons will open their 2016-17 season on Wednesday, Oct. 26 with a 7:30 p.m. road game against the Toronto Raptors. The home opener is two days later – Friday, Oct. 28 – against the Orlando Magic, also at 7:30 p.m.

Detroit will have 17 sets of back-to-back games and one stretch of four games in five nights.

The defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers make their first appearance at The Palace on Dec. 26. The Golden State Warriors, coming off an NBA-record 73-win season and having added superstar Kevin Durant in free agency, visit on Dec. 23.

The Pistons are off on Christmas Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but will play at Miami on New Year’s Day.

They will play eight of their final 12 games on the road, including the regular-season finale on Wednesday, April 12 at Orlando.

The Pistons’ six-game preseason schedule was released earlier this month.

Pistons have no immediate plans to leave 105.1
