Detroit Pistons assistant coach Tim Hardaway is contesting drunken driving charges stemming from an April arrest in Oakland County, according to a WDIV-TV report.

Hardaway's vehicle was stopped by authorities along 13 Mile and Lahser roads, near his home. He had a blood alcohol level of .17 percent, according to court records obtained by WDIV. That is more than twice the state's legal limit of .08 percent. Beverly Hills police declined to comment on the case, which is ongoing.

He appeared in court this week. His driving privileges are limited to traveling for "business purpose only," according to court records. Hardaway's attorney told the station he was working towards a resolution on the case to avoid a trial.

Hardaway has been an assistant with the Pistons since August 2014. The five-time NBA All-Star point guard had a 14-year career with Golden State, Miami, Dallas, Denver and Indiana.
