OSU No. 1 in Scout ’17 rankings, UM eighth

Ohio State, boosted by the commitments Monday of receivers Trevon Grimes and Tyjon Lindsey, now has the No. 1 recruiting class for 2017 by Scout.com.

The Buckeyes have 18 commitments in the 2017 class with an average star rating of 4.22. Second is Alabama (21 commitments, 3.81 average) and third is Oklahoma (19, 3.74).

Michigan has 19 commitments (3.37 average star rating) and checks in at No. 8 in the Scout rankings, second in the Big Ten. Michigan State (16, 3.25) is No. 16, according to Scout, third in the Big Ten.

Grimes (6-4, 202 pounds, five stars), who is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, picked the Buckeyes over Miami, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. He is ranked the No. 3 receiver in the nation and the No. 24 player overall for 2017 by Scout.

Lindsey (5-8, 165 pounds, four stars), who is from Las Vegas, opted for OSU over Nebraska. He is ranked No. 5 at his position and No. 37 overall by Scout.
