A Bruce Township woman was killed and left in her fire damaged home late last month, according to Michigan State Police.

Tamara Sue Chandler, 48, was discovered around 8:15 p.m. July 25 on the 71000 block of Van Dyke in Bruce Township, officials said. She was found by the property owner and his son, who arrived to check on what they thought was an air conditioning issue.

Once inside, they spotted Chandler’s body as well as fire damage to the home.

The two called 911, launching an investigation by the state police’s Metro North Post, Special Investigation Section and Fire Marshal Division. Officials initially did not say whether they considered the death suspicious, pending autopsy results.

The Macomb County Medical Examiner since has ruled her death a homicide but has not yet released a cause of death.

Anyone with information is asked to call 855-MICH-TIP.
