Three men were arrested after police said they committed several larcenies in Washington Township this week.

The suspects — a 17-year-old and a 21-year-old from Washington Township, and a 17-year-old from Ray Township — were to be arraigned Tuesday.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, around 9 a.m. Sunday, deputies were called to several homes on Waschull and Lake Edge Drive for a suspicious situation.

The callers told authorities that they saw three people pulling on car door handles.

“The callers provided dispatchers with a description of the three individuals, and they related that the three were using cellphones to communicate with one another,” officials wrote in a release.

Homeowners in the area told deputies that items were stolen from their unlocked cars. As one deputy took a report from a homeowner, another noticed three people matching the descriptions of the suspects walk out of a home on Waschull, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies searched one of the men’s backpacks. The backpack contained stolen property, officials said. Deputies recovered stolen credit cards, a knife, sunglasses, loose change, a wallet and prescription drugs. The items were returned to their owners.

The suspects were arrested and taken to the Macomb County Jail.
