Devellano buys minority share of OHL’s Spirit

Red Wings senior vice president Jimmy Devellano has purchased a minority stake in the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.

“For many, many years I always had a desire to own an Ontario Hockey League franchise,” Devellano told MLive.com. “My role is going to be as hockey advisor to ownership,”

Devellano, 73, will serve as an ambassador for the Spirit, promoting the team and its players.

Devellano, who has been with the Wings since 1982, said his part-ownership of the Spirit will not affect his role with the Wings.
