Longtime baseball executive Rick Brenner was named the new president of Michigan International Speedway on Thursday.

Brenner replaces Roger Curtis, who stepped down Aug. 30 to pursue new opportunities.

Brenner was president of DSF Sports and Entertainment, the company that owns the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the Eastern League.

He managed all facets of the multi-unit business as well as leading the design and construction of the Bowling Green Ballpark, home of the Double-A team of the Toronto Blue Jays.

“He is a seasoned sports executive who is well positioned to lead Michigan International Speedway into the future," International Speedway Corporation chief operating officer Joie Chitwood said.

Brennan has 23 years of experience in minor league baseball and has won a number of awards, including the 2010 Larry MacPhail Award to recognize the nation's best in promotions.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of the history at MIS and working with everyone there to build upon their past successes," Brennan said.

The 38-year-old Brennan will take over his new position on Monday, Sept. 19.
