A new phase of construction will begin next week on the Interstate 75 project between South Boulevard and Coolidge Highway in Oakland County.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said it plans to close the Adams Road entrance on northbound I-75 beginning at 9 a.m. Monday until mid-December. Traffic will be diverted to westbound M-59 and then onto I-75.

Additionally, I-75 will be reduced to one lane in each direction as crews install a traffic shift between Coolidge Highway and Squirrel Road from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday.

“After 2 p.m., I-75 will have two lanes open in each direction with all traffic sharing the southbound side of the freeway,” a statement from MDOT reads. “This traffic shift is expected to remain in place until mid-December. At this time, the northbound I-75 exit ramp to Adams Road will be closed. Ramp traffic will be detoured to southbound Crooks Road, then westbound Long Lake Road to Adams Road.”

Other traffic changes include:

■ Beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 15, the Squirrel Road overpass will be closed over I-75 until mid-December.

■ If weather permits, I-75 will be closed in each direction between M-59 and Crooks Road from 10 p.m. Sept. 16 to 5 a.m. Sept. 19 as crews demolish the Squirrel Road overpass. Detours for each direction will take Crooks Road and M-59.
