Pistons put finishing touches on front office overhaul

Auburn Hills — With training camp starting on Monday, the Pistons finalized their front-office staff, announcing several promotions on Friday.

Pat Garrity was promoted to associate general manager, after previously serving as director of strategic planning and being moved to assistant general manager in June.

Adam Glessner moves to a role as director of player personnel in addition to his pro scouting duties. Glessner was a coaching associate in Charlotte and worked as a video coordinator when Van Gundy coached in Orlando.

J.R. Holden, in his third season with the Pistons, was promoted to director of international scouting. He boasts a 13-year career playing overseas, including Latvia, Belgium, Greece and Russia.

“We are pleased to complete our basketball operations staff for the upcoming season and look forward to the contributions of those who have been promoted and those who join our organization,” general manager Jeff Bower said in a statement. “Pat Garrity, Adam Glessner and J.R. Holden have been a major part of our staff over the last three seasons and their promotion to senior leadership positions is a natural progression.

“Their effectiveness and unique skill sets will allow our basketball operations staff to evolve seamlessly moving forward.”

Aaron Gray also transitions to a role as assistant coach, Jordan Sabourin to head strength coach and T.J. Saint to head video coordinator.
