Dearborn Veterans Park, War Memorial dedicated Saturday

Dearborn — A dedication ceremony is taking place Saturday for the Dearborn Veterans Park and War Memorial.

The event is in front of the Henry Ford Centennial Library.

The city says the focus of the War Memorial is four 7-foot monoliths, which are tributes to men from Dearborn who died in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. The monoliths originally were at park property that Dearborn no longer owns.

An “eternal flame” will signify remembrance of those who died in service.

The city says the Veterans Park, meanwhile, honors all who served in peacetime and war. It includes flags, glass panels and 24 newly planted cherry trees. A labyrinth also is planned.
