Western Michigan keeps rowing, stays perfect

Kalamazoo, Mich. — Zach Terrell threw four touchdown passes and Western Michigan won its fourth straight to open the season by beating Georgia Southern 49-31 in a non-conference showdown Saturday night.

Terrell threw three TD passes in the second quarter, including a 37-yard strike to Michael Henry and a 35-yard pass to Corey Davis.

Western Michigan junior Darius Phillips (Dearborn Heights Robichaud) returned a Georgia Southern kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown to give the Broncos (4-0) a 35-17 advantage at intermission.

Terrell completed 18 of 27 pass attempts for 270 yards and Jamauri Bogan gained 104 yards on 26 carries and scored a touchdown on the ground. Henry finished with eight receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Favian Upshaw was 4 of 6 for 103 yards passing and two touchdowns to lead Georgia Southern (3-1), but had one pass picked off. Kevin Ellison was 5 of 9 for 65 yards and a touchdown and ran for a team-high 46 yards.
