Detroit – Construction is underway on Wi-Fi upgrades at Ford Field.

In a press release, the Detroit Lions announced Verizon began the project on Monday, with the upgrades expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“We listened to Lions’ fans and are thrilled to announce this project is underway,” said Verizon's Abby Knowles, executive director – network. “We’re working to install the new system as quickly as possible so that we can bring the best experience to fans at every home game.”

Improving the Wi-Fi is the latest in a series of upgrades at Ford Field. During the offseason, a new roof with LED lighting was installed. The lighting was also improved inside the stadium, brightening the playing surface.

Additionally, the team has installed new speakers, brought back the blue end zones and added cheerleaders, all aimed at improved the game day experience for fans.
