Injuries at running back prompted the Chicago Bears to sign running back Joique Bell on Tuesday. Bell posted a picture of himself, along with general manager Ryan Pace and salary cap head Joey Laine, signing the contract

Bell (Wayne State) was the Lions’ second-leading rusher last season with 311 yards on 90 carries. He also had 22 catches for 286 yards. The Bears signed him a week after the Lions gave him a tryout.

The high right ankle sprain Bears starter Jeremy Langford suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys apparently is serious. ESPN reported Monday that Langford (Michigan State) is expected to miss four to six weeks. Second stringer Ka’Deem Carey is nursing a hamstring injury.

The Lions are also depleted at running back, having lost leading rusher Ameer Abdullah to a long-term foot injury. Bell is now positioned to play against his old team Sunday at Soldier Field.
