Drummond's double-double carries Pistons past Sixers

Detroit Pistons' Boban Marjanovic, center, of Serbia, dunks the ball as he splits between Philadelphia 76ers' Jerami Grant, left, and Joel Embiid, right, of Cameroon, during the first half in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia — Andre Drummond had 10 points and 13 rebounds and the  Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers 97-76.

Tobias Harris scored a game-high 18 for the Pistons to go along with six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Detroit improved to 2-2.

The 76ers (1-5) may have lost, but coach Brett Brown had good news about two of their young players. Brown said Joel Embiid could play both games of back-to-backs once the season begins despite missing the last two seasons because of a broken right foot and being on a preseason minutes restriction. Embiid scored a team-high 15 and grabbed five rebounds, but had seven turnovers.

Jahlil Okafor had surgery for a meniscus tear in March and has not played in the preseason, but Brown said he should be ready for the season opener on Oct. 26.
