A 24-year-old Roseville man was arraigned Monday after authorities say he drove his motorcycle drunk and struck and killed a teen Friday.

Cody Leonard Soucie stood mute during his arraignment before Judge Joseph Boedeker in 39th District Court on Monday. He is charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, a 15-year felony. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

According to police, Ryan Mannes, 14, of Roseville was playing Pokemon Go! when he was struck Friday. Ryan was out with two school friends playing the popular game in the area of West 11 Mile and Demerick.

Ryan entered the road in an attempt to “capture a Pokemon” and as he returned to the sidewalk, he was struck by the motorcyclist, police said.

Soucie and his passenger, a 26-year-old woman from Roseville, received non-life threatening injuries. Police said Soucie was found to have a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.14.

Bond for Soucie was set at $100,000. He returns to court for a preliminary examination Oct. 26.
