Lions' Stafford brushes off 'best' NFL QB talk
Allen Park — The national narrative on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is at an all-time high, when it comes to accolades.
His accuracy, lack of interceptions and knack for winning, fourth-quarter drives has the experts singing his praises like never before.
One, Fox Sports' Peter Schrager, even called Stafford perhaps "the best quarterback in the entire NFL" on Monday.
How does Stafford feel about all that?
"Same way I feel when people say I'm terrible and the reason we're losing," Stafford said Wednesday to a room full of laughter. "I don't pay much attention to it."
Stafford this season is 146-for-212 for a career-best 68.9 completion percentage. He's led the Lions to back-to-back wins, and a .500 record. The season could've spiraled out of control had they lost to the Eagles two weeks ago, but Stafford rallied past them.
Stafford has thrown 14 touchdown passes to just four interceptions.
He hasn't missed a game since 2010, and Sunday's game against Washington will be the 100th start of his career.
"That's cool," said Stafford, 28. "It's obviously a privilege to play in this league, especially for that long.
"As far as how long it feels, certain days it feels like a blink in the eye, other days, physically, it feels like eight years."
