Lions' 2nd-round picks: Few hits, plenty of misses

Kyle Van Noy is the latest second-round pick of Martin Mayhew who didn’t pan out for the Lions. Here are the team’s second-round picks under Mayhew:

Titus Young was a talented but troubled receiver for the Lions.

■ 2009, Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan: He was a starter before knee injuries hampered him. Signed with Dolphins as a free agent, had knee injury and is a free agent.

■ 2010, Traded to Vikings in deal to select Jahvid Best, RB, California, in first round: Best’s career was cut short because of concussions. He was last seen running the 100 meters for Saint Lucia in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Vikings starting DE Everson Griffen was drafted with a fourth-round pick from the Lions.

Lions trade Kyle Van Noy to Patriots

■ 2011, Titus Young, WR, Boise State and Mikel Leshoure, RB, Illinois: Young was cut midway through his second season and has been in and out of jail and rehab since. The Lions traded up for Leshoure, who was suspended after an arrest for marijuana possession. He played little after his rookie season, was cut in 2014 and is out of football. Seahawks CB Richard Sherman was drafted with a fifth-round pick acquired in the deal.

■ 2012, Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma: Broyles was recovering from knee surgery when he was drafted and injuries kept him from playing much. He was cut in 2015.

■ 2013, Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State: Starter for the Lions.

■ 2014: Kyle Van Noy, LB, BYU: Started seven games after playing little his first two seasons. Traded to Patriots.

■ 2015: Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska: Contributed as rookie, On injured reserve with foot injury.
