Monday's basketball: Georgetown upsets No. 13 Oregon
Lahaina, Hawaii — Rodney Pryor had 26 points and 10 rebounds, and Georgetown withstood a furious second-half rally to hold on for a 65-61 victory over No. 13 Oregon on Monday in the first round of the Maui Invitational.
Georgetown (1-2) led by 17 after a superb first half, capped by Pryor’s running 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Ducks (2-2) swarmed their way back, using pressure defense to create turnovers and easy baskets in transition.
Unlike their loss to Maryland last week, the Hoyas weathered the Duck storm and will advance to the second round against No. 16 Wisconsin.
LJ Peak added 17 points and hit two free throws with 2.7 seconds left to seal Georgetown’s victory.
Payton Pritchard led Oregon with 18 points. Dillon Brooks had eight points in his first game of the season, including a long 3-pointer with 3.8 seconds left to get the Ducks within 2.
State men
Central Michigan 88, Pepperdine 77: Marcus Keene sank 14-of-22 field goals en route to a career-high 36 points as Central Michigan (4-0) won its opener of the Lone Star Showcase in Austin, Texas.
Keene also had seven assists for Central Michigan, which faces St. Bonaventure at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Central Michigan shot 57.1 percent from the field in the second half to pull away from Pepperdine.
Braylon Rayson had 20 points and Josh Kozinski scored 15 for Central Michigan.
State women
(At) Michigan 66, Western Michigan 40: Siera Thompson had six points and six assists and Katelynn Flannery 15 for the Wolverines (4-0).
Marley Hill scored 11 for Western (1-2).
Hallie Thome scored 11 for the Wolverines, who outscored the Broncos 40-16 in the second half.
(At) Detroit 73, Kent State 52: Rosanna Reynolds had 17 points and seven rebounds and Brianne Cohen had 14 points and six rebounds for Detroit (2-2) in its home opener at Calihan Hall.
Reynolds (Dearborn Divine Child) made 5-of-10 field goals and had two steals. Cohen sank 7-of-8 shots.
Kelsey Mitchell (Inkster) had nine rebounds, seven points and three blocks for Detroit.

No. 16 Wisconsin 74, Tennessee 62: Bronson Koenig scored 21 and Nigel Hayes had 17 points and 10 rebounds, for Wisconsin (3-1) at the Maui Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii.
Ethan Happ scored 16 for the Badgers, who will face Georgetown today.
Shembari Phillips led Tennessee with 16 points, and Detrick Mostella and Robert Hubbs III had 12 each.
Northwestern 77, No. 22 Texas 58: Bryant McIntosh had 20 points and five assists to lead Northwestern to a convincing victory over Texas in the semifinals of the Legends Classic at Barclays Center.
The Wildcats (3-1) will play Notre Dame, which beat Colorado 89-81, in the championship game Tuesday night.

No. 5 Kansas 83, UAB 63: Josh Jackson had 22 points, Frank Mason III and Devonte Graham were nearly as productive and Kansas rolled to a victory over Alabama-Birmingham in the CBE Classic semifinals.
Mason finished with 20 points and Graham had 16 for the Jayhawks (3-1), who advanced to play George for the title on Tuesday night.
No. 8 Arizona 71, Northern Colorado 55: Lauri Markkanen scored 17 points, Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 15 points and a career-high 11 assists and Arizona pulled away over the final 12½ minutes.
No. 12 Creighton 86, Mississippi 77: Marcus Foster scored 25 points, and Creighton had to rally from a 10-point deficit in the second half to beat Mississippi in the championship game of the Paradise Jam tournament.
