Moo Cluck Moo goes mobile as Dearborn restaurant closes
The all-natural fast food restaurant closed its Canton location earlier this fall, and will now serve food via food trucks and a Ford Field outpost
Shortly after closing its Canton restaurant earlier this fall, all-natural fast food joint Moo Cluck Moo closed its original location in Dearborn Heights last week.
The business will live on as a mobile food truck operation.
Besides serving hormone-free, unfrozen burgers, chicken, fries and milkshakes, Moo Cluck Moo also bakes bread fresh each day and pays its workers a starting rate of $12 per hour. The Dearborn Heights restaurant opened on Telegraph in spring of 2013.
Co-owner Harry Moorhouse said he and partner Brian Parker closed both brick-and-mortar spots because the leases were up at both locations, and he sees mobile kitchens as “a big part of the future for our business.”
For now Moo Cluck Moo has one food truck that is scheduled to be somewhere for at least lunch if not lunch and dinner nearly every weekday through the end of the year – including downtown Detroit, Southfield, Farmington Hills and elsewhere. Anyone close enough to where the mobile kitchen is parked can order online at moocluckmoo.com to avoid standing around outdoors.
Moorhouse said two additional trucks are on the way by spring, and he and Parker are also looking to collaborate with additional partners to launch a version of the restaurant with beer called Moo Cluck Brew.
Moo Cluck Moo has an outpost at Ford Field and serves football fans during game days, too.
Look for the Moo Cluck Moo mobile kitchen at Village Green on Franklin in Southfield 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, and 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday at the Paragon Properties at 32400 Telegraph in Bingham Farms.
