Pistons’ Drummond fined $15,000 for elbow

Atlanta — Andre Drummond wasn’t sure what the penalty was going to be, but was pretty sure a penalty was coming.

He found out on Thursday, when the NBA fined Drummond $15,000 for his flagrant-2 foul on Hornets center Roy Hibbert in the second quarter of Tuesday’s victory at Charlotte. Drummond was ejected and finished with three points and six rebounds.

Drummond was in the locker room after the game, still in disbelief about how it all went down. He maintained that he’s not a dirty player and didn’t want to be painted as one because of this incident. He said Tuesday this was the first time he’s ever been ejected from a game in his life.

“Anybody who knows me knows I’m not a dirty player. It’s part of the game,” Drummond said Tuesday. “(Hibbert) got hit, he did whatever he had to do to get the call, the refs made the call and I was escorted off the floor.

“Other than that, we won the game and I’m satisfied with that.”
