A 75-year-old Pontiac man was arrested Monday night after allegedly pointing a loaded shotgun at a court officer who arrived to repossess his vehicle.

The incident started about 10:50 p.m. on the 1300 block of Galloway Circle. An officer of the 52/3 District Court had arrived to repossess a vehicle from the property when they saw the homeowner point a loaded shotgun out of his front window, according to a release from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The court officer retreated and called 911.

The man refused to leave the home and it became a barricaded gunman situation, according to the sheriff's office. In the end, though, the man’s wife exited the house and kept the peace, speaking with Oakland County sheriff’s deputies working the scene and her husband. Authortities say she talked her husband into laying down the weapon and surrendering himself, which he did. He was arrested without further incident and remains at the Oakland County Jail.

Police also took two shotguns from the home. The incident remains under investigation.

Oakland County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for the type of vehicle that was to be repossessed and what became of the effort to seize the vehicle.
