Allen Park — A personal-best performance has earned Detroit Lions kicker Matt Prater another NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award, his third in the team’s past four games. He’s only the second Lions player, along with running back Barry Sanders, to earn the honors three times in a single season.

Lions kicker Matt Prater watches his first-quarter field goal go through the uprights.

Prater made all five of his field-goal attempts in the Lions’ 28-13 win over the New Orleans Saints, the first time in his 10-year career he’s made five in one game.

Prater is now 26-29 this season, including 5-5 from 50 yards and beyond. He earned player of the week honors twice in November and is also the reigning special teams player of the month in the NFC.
