1. “Beautiful - The Carole King Musical” at Fisher Theatre

This show tells the life story of songwriter and singer Carole King and her tale of not only becoming a popular solo act, but a legendary songwriter. The production features many songs she co-wrote with her husband, Gerry Goffin, including “I Feel the Earth Move,” “One Fine Day” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. 2. Mitten Market at Royal Oak Farmers Market

This free shopping event boasts 70 Michigan-based vendors and artists, plus cocktails, beer and coffee, and food from local restaurants like El Charro and Big Boy. Detroit rock band Amy Gore and Her Valentines will play a holiday-themed set. There’s pet element, too. Well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome to come have their photo taken with Santa for a $10 donation to Detroit Dog Rescue (Tito’s Vodka will match all donations 100 percent). 6-11 p.m. Saturday. 3. Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” at Fox Theatre:

Nearly 40 talented performers will present three performances of this holiday classic, direct from Russia. The show features a 60-foot Christmas tree, elaborate costumes and a set designed by Oscar-nominee Carl Sprague. Noon, 4 and 8 p.m. Sunday. $30 and up. 2211 Woodward, Detroit. (313) 471-6611.
